What we'll be up to in 2025
The 2025 course begins on Aprl 7 and includes:
Photo essays, articles and videos on archaeological finds, cultural treasures, historical analysis.
Audio commentaries
Monthly Webcasts (these are not in final order):
- Ceramic Scriptures of Signs
- Diabolism: Ideology of Conquest ("Their religion is devil-worship")
- Ancient Colombia / Ecuador
- Ancient Iberia (Spain)
- Ancient China
- Totonacapan and Téenik (Eastern Mexico)
- Ethiopia
- Live topical discussions (on witches; maybe an "Ask me anything")
New excerpts from my books (first: "When They Smashed the Goddesses: Cultural Repression and Resistance"; later this year, excerpts from Women's Power in Greek Patriarchy)
Discussions sometimes arise on our course e-group Veleda.
I post links to upcoming zoomcasts and other course info there. Subscribers will receive an invitation to join.
Forthcoming topics:
I've found a new source with high quality information on the wu and their intersection with Daoist ceremony, dance, meditation, and will be sharing from and commenting on that.
We'll continue our survey of matricultural societies and the historical process of patriarchalization and colonization.
We'll have more chapters from Magna Mater, Paulianity and the Imperial Church, with attention to authoritarian regimes and state religion.
We'll be looking at archaeology in eastern and western Mexico (rather than the usual emphasis on Maya country and the central plateau). It's very rich in potent female iconography.
And, as usual, whatever discoveries serendipity throws my way!
